Monetary Penalties for Franchisors and Franchisees

As from 1 January, 2015 the ACCC will have the power to issue infringement notices of $8,500 to franchisors and franchisees who breach the Franchising Code of Conduct.

The Courts will have the power to impose pecunary penalties of up to $51,000 for those breaches.

We are still waiting on the definite changes to the Code and Disclosure Document after the exposure draft was released earlier this year.
